![]() In this time, the punishment for adultery was to be stoned to death however, Jesus came to this woman's defense. The Samaritan woman at the well (John 4), Peter and his constant doubting and slip-ups, and the sinner hanging on the cross next to Jesus (Luke 23:40-43.) In John 8, Jesus is at the Mount of Olives, where he sees a woman accused of adultery. There are several instances of his grace, just like this. ![]() Zacchaeus became a changed man because of that time with Jesus. Jesus stayed at his home, and all who witnessed it were so surprised that Jesus would associate with a sinner such as Zacchaeus. In Luke 19, Jesus called Zacchaeus, a chief tax collector, down from a tree. He became upset that they had turned the temple into a "den of robbers." So, yes, there were times He was frustrated with the sinful ways of man, but many times He loved. Jesus was in the temple when He saw others selling and bargaining inside. Matthew 21:12-13 is a prime example of this. There were times when when He grew so frustrated with sinners just like you and I. He did not sugarcoat things, and he never compromised the truth. In the long run, I think this win will do more harm than good for DiCaprio, as the Academy and public down the line may remember him for "The Revenant" rather than the incredible "Blood Diamond" or "The Great Gatsby." ![]() However, I draw the line on the claim that the performance was Oscar award-worthy. I’m not even going to appeal to the “DiCaprio screamed and crawled around for two hours” argument I’ve seen, as I think he did have an Oscar nomination-worthy performance. ![]() In my opinion, I thought Keaton’s performance of a man pulled in two different directions - his Catholic upbringing and the truth - was far more compelling than DiCaprio’s performance of a man struggling to survive and take revenge on those who wronged him. But I also saw " Spotlight," and I was amazed that Michael Keaton was not nominated for his role of Walter Robinson, the head of the Spotlight investigative journalism team who broke the story on child molestation in the Catholic Church. The realism, the portrayal of loss and betrayal, the isolation: It was a poignant and beautiful movie. ![]() Therefore, even if the fear does not deviate from the path of normality, it does deviate from a healthy path and should thus be defeated. However, there is room to say based on the term "pathological" that the fear is unhealthy for an individual to have, whether it is normal or not. Every human being has been on a different journey, so "normal" is not a term that can be placed on someone's journey and not another's. But who defines "normal" anyway? In the majority of cases, fears can be traced back to an experience in one's life that has led them to cling to fear as a sort of comfort and escape. Individuals are often kept from facing their fears because they feel abnormal and are paralyzed from moving forward. The individual can then choose to reason and write out why it is illogical to have that fear. It is possible, in any situation or fear, to identify the underlying problem or misconception. Ones with these types of fears must understand the benefit of overcoming their anxiety and diving in to the root and core issue of their fears. ![]()
