![]() ![]() The animation at times is choppy and has areas where they simply have a still image (Glasslip like). Though it isn’t bad, it was still jarring for me as I expected the same style as the TV version. The art is not as sharp, with more of a olden style feel. Most of these characters are in line with the TV version, but Sunohara and Nagisa’s father, Akio are particularly more exaggerated in their actions.įor the animation and artwork, there is a distinct difference from the TV version. Seriously, I can’t even deal with the amount of derp sometimes. We had a sense of his values and his change from a trouble maker to someone productive. Personally I felt as if they did quite a good job portraying his character in the short amount of time. Tomoya is a person who acts aloof and has a host of problems, but through time with Nagisa he begins to change. ![]() With their personalities, problems and how they act, we can often feel a sense of connection to them. The characters are what makes Clannad so special for a lot of people. For those who already know about Clannad, the differences are mainly the interactions, Sunohara’s character and Ibuki-sensei. I’m not going to say more as this will ruin the experience for you. The main themes that this focuses on is the idea of family and loss. This version of the story is very comedic, as opposed to the more serious tones of the TV one. The story focuses on Okazaki Tomoya and Furukawa Nagisa, about their life in high school and then later beyond that. ![]() Yet at the same time it manages to convey the themes in a similar fashion as the TV one.Ĭlannad the Movie is very much Clannad with some slightly different aspects. I have to say, this version feels a lot… derpier than the original. Scorpzgca. So I decided to hit up Clannad again, this time as a movie. In Search of Number Nine - An anime blog.Join 1,927 other subscribers Blogs I Follow Yusuke’s rock music also joins the anime! The main theme Mag Mell is also here so don’t worry. The Dango Family theme song is here as well but sang differently than the anime. The music in this anime could either be silly and whimsical or dark and eerie. I prefer English Dub, especially when Sunohara gets beaten up XD The voice actor’s return, so that was a plus side. They were funny and I really like how they were very supportive to Nagisa and Tomoya. ![]() My favorite side characters were Youhei Sunohara and Nagisa’s parents. Some of them were cut out of the movie entirely, or some showed up but had very little roles in the story. The characters involved with the story are here as well but half of them are part of it. Personally, it is good but I prefer the anime TV version. I will not spoil the ending but I will say that the ending of the movie may not appeal to Clannad fans. This movie covers about 90% of the first Clannad and 10% of After Story, which is the second part of Clannad. The movie also tries to add another plot which involves Tomoya and his strange, never-ending dream and intertwine with Nagisa’s plot. The film follows the same thing as the anime, Nagisa is trying to bring back the Drama Club after being sick so many days and with the help of Tomoya, they will do whatever it takes to make Nagisa’s dream come true. Tomoya Okazaki, the male protagonist, is still the same tough guy as the anime but more grumpier. For example, unlike the anime, Nagisa Furukawa is more cheery and confident girl. Their personality are also changed for this film as well. The most notable changes are the hair being shined and clean and their eyes are colorful. In this version, the character’s look and designed are more bright and modified. The anime version of the series was created by Kyoto animation and the movie was made from Toei Animation. Is it a sequel? or prequel? No, this movie is an alternate, retold story of Clannad in 95 minutes (based on Rightstuf). Their story starts beneath the cherry blossoms, but where will fate lead them? While helping Nagisa revive the defunct Drama Club at their high school, Tomoya discovers that she has the same dreams. Then, one fateful day, he meets the mysterious and beautiful Nagisa and his world begins to change. Plagued by a seemingly endless stream of haunting dreams, Tomoya drifts through life with an almost overwhelming sense of anger and emptiness. ![]()
